Omenako Methodist Primary is a day school established in 1939. Initially private, it became government-sponsored in 1957 on Ghana’s independence and the name reflects only the founding body and not either the make-up of students or the governing body. Its student population has grown from 20 in 1939 to 256 today from grade 1 to 6. There are 6 classrooms, 6 trained teachers and 1 teaching assistant. The school is very proud of its alumni, which include prominent politicians, its academic strengths and athletics. It won first position in a reading and spelling competition at Circuit level recently. Nevertheless, it endures difficult challenges with a great number of drop outs, teen pregnancies etc.
