Sister Schools
Opportunity Education is seeking to facilitate
sister school relationships between schools in the
developed and the developing world. The only
initial commitment we ask is that the children in
the school in the developed world enter into a
pen pal relationship with the children in the other
school. It is hoped that the relationship can
develop beyond that but the nature and scope
of any other relationship would be up to the
individual schools.
Benefits to Children in Developing Nations:
- Increased exposure to the English language through writing letters to and receiving letters from students
who are native English speakers - Expanding the children's perspective and understanding of cultural similarities and differences
- Realization that children in other parts of the world care about their well-being
Benefits to Children in Developed Nations:
- Development of an awareness of different cultures
- Opportunity to become interactive members of a global society
- Awareness of the needs of students around the world
How to Get Involved:
On the Participating Schools tab on this website there
is a list of all of the schools Opportunity Education
supports. Look over the list and read the details and view the photographs of the schools. If your school
is interested in becoming a Sister School to one of these schools, please complete and submit the
attached form.
If you would prefer, Opportunity Education staff can assign a school to your school. If you would like us to
assign a school, please complete the appropriate section of the following form and list preferences, if any.
Our intention is that the ongoing relationship should be between individual schools in the developed
and developing world. Opportunity Education simply acts as the facilitator in establishing the initial
introductions and relationship.
