A native of Northern Ireland, Alan Barkley trained initially as a teacher and
then worked for over twenty years in a series of senior management
positions with a number of domestic and international banks. He has also
worked as a consultant and a Chief Financial Officer in the healthcare
sector. He holds a Masters degree in Business Administration and is
an Associate of the Institute of Bankers in Scotland. He has traveled
extensively in Africa and Asia over the past five years and his duties with
Opportunity Education include the identification of suitable schools
and the coordination of program components.
