Description: St. Theresa is one of the oldest institutions of basic education in central Uganda founded solely for the education of girls. It was established in 1926 by the congregation of Our Lady of Africa, commonly known as The White Sisters. The school has a population of 900 students of whom 500 are boarders. It has always had many pupils from other parts of Africa - Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Day scholars pay 20,000 shillings per term ($11) and boarders pay 248,000 shillings ($146). The government grant is approx. 3,500,000 shillings ($2,000) per annum.
